Frequently asked questions

Why don't my numbers match my paycheck exactly? The app models federal income tax only — it doesn't account for state tax, FICA, AMT, capital-loss netting, or a few other edge cases. It's an estimate, sharpened by the numbers you enter, not a substitute for a tax professional.
Where is my data stored? Entirely on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere — see the Privacy Policy for details.
My saved inputs disappeared after an update. If you're updating from an older build, a storage-format change can require re-entering your numbers once. This is called out in-app when it applies.
What's "pirate mode"? A fully optional easter egg that translates the app into pirate-speak. Turn it off before entering your numbers — "pillageable ordinary booty" is a lot less useful than "taxable ordinary income."
